Call Playback Audio Effects
The System User has a small number of features available to them to enhance the quality of the audio when they are listening to a recorded call...
- Skip Silence
- Auto Volume
- Stereo Playback
They are show in the screenshot below (please note "Audio Boost" is not going to be implemented)...
Skip Silence
This will enable the System User to skip over long periods of silence such as when the caller has been placed on hold. Once the check box has been selected, the playback function will examine the audio waveform to calculate when there are periods of silence in the call and when it encounters one of these periods of silence, the playback function will automatically jump to the next period of speech encountered in the waveform.
Deselecting the check box will for the playback function to play all periods of silence in real time, so, for example, twenty seconds of silence in the audio will be played back to the System User as twenty seconds of silence before the next period of speech is encountered in the audio.
Auto Volume
If the "Auto" checkbox is selected it will set the volume of the playback to that set by the Administrator. So if the Administrator sets the auto-volume preset to be 80%, when the System User selects the Auto checkbox, the audio will be played back at 80% of the system maximum, and cannot be changed. The left speaker volume...
and the right speaker volume...
...should both be disabled, so that the user cannot change the volume.
If the user deselects the Auto checkbox then the left- and right-speaker volume slider's are enabled and the user can adjust each to their own preferences.
Stereo Playback
This feature is switched on and off using the Stereo checkbox...
When the user switches stereo playback off, then both channels play the audio back in mono. The left and right audio sliders are still available but they do not change the volume separately. When the user adjusts one of the volume sliders, the other will change to match, so that the audio increases in volume in both left and right channels by the same amount.
When the user switches stereo playback on, then audio playback will be in stereo. The left- and right- volume controls will operate independently so the user can set them both equally so the audio is played back at the same volume on both channels, or they can set the left channel audio to be louder or quieter than the right, and vice-versa.
