Search and Replay - Saved Presets

Search and Replay - Saved Presets

The Search and Replay must have the functionality to allow the System User to save a search.

The advanced search allows complex searches to be built up and the System User will be able to save the search at any point so that it can be retrieved and used again.

The System User can change any on the data values being searched on in a preset without having to save the search. This will allow them to re-use searches simply by changing the search values.

An idea of the complexity of the searches that can be built up is gained by reviewing the Advanced Search prototype layout shown in the link below.

Each System User can have no or many searches saved as a preset. In more formal terms...

As can be seen a System User can save many searches, each one must have its own unique name. The System User can select one of these from the Advanced Search functions. Doing so will open the search exactly as it was when the System User saved it. This will enable the System User to amend the search and either save it, replacing the original search, or save it as a new preset search (a "Save As..." function).

The System User can also discard the changes they make, either before running the search, or after running the search.

The  System User must be able to see a list of all of their saved preset searches.

A System User can add a description to the saved search so they can see why the search was necessary. This will be important for searches that are rarely used. The date and time when the search was created will also be needed so the user can determine when a search is too old and needs removing from the list of preset searches.
